Russian pharmaceuticals market grows 14% in 2013
MOSCOW. Feb 7 (Interfax) - The Russian pharmaceuticals market expanded 13.57% to 1.044 trillion rubles last year, according to the analytical company DSM Group.
In natural terms, market volume contracted 2.13% to 5.46 billion individual packages.
The commercial segment for ready medicinal products increased 13.5% to 609.021 billion rubles last year, while that of product in packages declined 0.64% to 4.429 billion units. The market for parapharmaceuticals grew 14% 169.404 billion rubles.
Supplemental medicine sales increased 5.99% to 83 billion rubles but decreased 10.32% to 74.9 million packages. The hospital segment increased 17.19% to 182.602 billion rubles but decreased 7.86% to 956 million packages.
The Russian pharmaceuticals market was worth 291.673 billion rubles for the fourth quarter, 16.1% more year-on-year. Actual sales were down 3.2% at 1.462 billion units.
The commercial segment grew 1323 to 174.698 billion rubles but slipped 0.79% to 1.17 billion packages. The parapharmaceuticals segment grew 14% to 47.26 billion rubles and the supplement market contracted 17.78% to 11.3 billion rubles (6.92% to 16 million units). The hospital segment grew 39.99% to 58.415 billion rubles, but dropped 12.02% to 275.8 million units.
