Sukhoi Superjet 100 to be displayed at Singapore air show for first time
MOSCOW. Feb10 (Interfax-AVN) - A United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) delegation led by UAC President Mikhail Pogosyan will be holding talks at the Singapore Airshow 2014 over the promotion of its Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft on the Asian market, the corporation said in a press release obtained by Interfax-AVN on Friday.
"To promote the UAC's civilian products in Asia Pacific countries, one of the most promising regions. We forecast here a more than threefold increase in air passenger services over the next 20 years, and the biggest demand than anywhere in the world for new aircraft - up to 35% of the global need," Pogosyan was quoted as saying in the press release.
With its Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft, UAC is planning to take up 15% of the Asian aircraft market in the 61-120-seat segment, and with its MS-21 family aircraft, at least 5% of the Asian market in the segment of narrow-body long-haul aircraft with a 120-200-seat capacity, the press release said.
"Presently, the corporation is actively promoting its commercial aircraft on the Asian Pacific market. Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliners are already being used successfully on flights in Laos and Indonesia," the statement said
Sukhoi Superjet 100 will be on static display at the Singapore Airshow: the airliner will be provided by Sky Aviation, an Indonesian airline company which has been operating commercial flights on SSJ100 since March 2013, the press release said.
Apart from its civilian aircraft, UAC will also exhibit its developments in the field of military aviation, the statement said.
"The flight program will be demonstrated by a Yakovlev Yak-130 (designed and manufactured by Irkut Corporation), a unique world-class military trainer aircraft that allows for the training pilots for Russian and foreign latest-generation fighter aircraft at the most advanced level," the press release said.
The international Singapore Airshow 2014 will take place at the exhibition center at Singapore Changi Airport on February 11-16.
Over the past 20 years the company has shipped about 400 Sukhoi (Su) and Mikoyan-Gurevich (MiG) aircraft to the region, including China, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar and others, the statement said. In 2014 the company is due to supply its military aircraft to a number of countries in the region. UAC continues cooperation with India over the licensed production of Su-30MKI and design of FGFA (fifth-generation fighter aircraft) and MTA (multirole transport aircraft).
UAC was founded by a Russian presidential decree on February 20, 2006. The corporation's capital is 188.9 billion rubles. The Russian government owns 84.33 % of its stock.
The UAC companies are: Sukhoi, Irkut Corporation, UAC-Transport Aircraft, Ilyushin, Sokol Aviation Plant (Nizhny Novgorod), Tupolev, Ilyushin Finance Co., Financial Leasing Company, Aviastar-SP, Voronezh Aircraft Production Association, Kazan Aircraft Production Association (KAPO) named after Gorbunov, Myasishchev Experimental Machine-Building Plant, Gromov Flight Research Institute, Aerokompozit, and Beriev Aircraft Company.
