New car, LCV sales in Russia down 6% in Jan - AEB
MOSCOW. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) in Russia were down 6% year-on-year in January at 152,662 vehicles, the Automobile Manufacturers Committee of the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said.
"January sales turned out weaker than many had hoped for - not a complete surprise however following a strong December which saw a pull-ahead of credit-backed sales due to the run-out of the government subsidy. January is small volume though, and therefore not a serious indicator for anything. February result will provide a better clue to where the market is headed this year. Current pace of contracting is quite encouraging all around, so we maintain our short-term expectation for the market to stabilize," said Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee.
