Kazakh, Chinese servicemen meet to plan anti-terrorism exercises

ASTANA. Feb 12 (Interfax-AVN) - The Peace Mission 2014 anti-terrorism exercises are being discussed at the first staff meeting in Beijing.

A Kazakh military delegation led by General Staff Deputy Chief Maj. Gen. Mukan Dyusekeyev is participating in the negotiations on the scenario, goals, tasks and organizational aspects of the upcoming drill, the Kazakh Defense Ministry press service said on Wednesday.

"Cooperation at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an important element of the multi-vector policy of Kazakhstan and it makes a big contribution to national and regional security. Kazakhstan is adherent to SCO objectives of mutual confidence, friendship, neighborliness, multifaceted cooperation and joint deterrence of every form of terrorism, separatism and extremism," the press service quoted Dyusekeyev as saying.

The Peace Mission command and staff exercises have become a traditional SCO event. SCO member countries host biennial drills by turn.

This year China will play host to the games of military contingents of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

The Peace Mission exercises were held at the Matybulak training range in Kazakhstan in 2010.
