Kerry says had constructive meeting with Chinese president
BEIJING. Feb 14 (Interfax) - U.S. State Secretary John Kerry said he has had a constructive meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, which addressed U.S.-Chinese relations and the situation in North Korea.
Kerry and Xi Jinping met earlier on Friday.
According to earlier reports, Kerry began his Asian tour on Wednesday. He has already visited South Korea and will head to Indonesia after visiting China.
Before his tour, Kerry told reporters one of the main goals of his visits will be to discuss the positions of the U.S. and Asian countries on North Korea and the possible resumption of the six-party talks on the North Korean nuclear program.
Kerry said he will be trying to convince the Chinese leadership to increase pressure on North Korea to resume the process of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. However, the diplomat said North Korea will have to make serious concessions to resume negotiations.
