Over 20 detained in St. Petersburg for staging unauthorized rally
ST. PETERSBURG. Feb 15 (Interfax) - Police in St. Petersburg detained demonstrators who gathered on Saturday to demand a revision of the outcome of privatization.
The rally was broken up and more than 20 protestors were detained, the city police told Interfax.
"An attempt was made to stage an unauthorized rally, which was broken up by police. More than 20 protesters were detained and taken to a police station, where their offence was documented," the police said.
The Other Russia Party's press service said its activists gathered near the Mezhdnunarodnaya metro station and announced that the rally had not been authorized, but would continue anyway. It demanded a revision of the outcome of privatization, the press service said.
