Leader says Syria's domestic opposition must attend third round
MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - A leader of Syria's Popular Front for Change and Liberation has urged domestic opposition forces to form a single delegation for the third round of the Geneva II peace talks and to travel to Switzerland.
"We in the domestic opposition have been undecided for a long time, but today we are trying to set up a single delegation. I urge the domestic opposition forces to immediately form a single delegation to attend the third round, whether or not it will be invited," Qadri Jamil, a representative of the leadership of the Popular Front for Change and Liberation and of the Coalition of Forces for Peaceful Change, said at a press conference in Moscow on Tuesday.
Even if not invited this delegation must take part in the third round, he said.
If the conference is to be a success a delegation must be formed of representatives of domestic opposition forces, Jamil said.
"We will go to Geneva and speak our mind, and we will set up a representative delegation," Jamil said.
"Even if we are not invited, we will go and we will try to enter the talks with the regime, with other opposition forces and with the UN. With us one round will suffice to ensure progress, I hope," he said.
Jamil urged the UN to send an invitation to the domestic opposition to join the third round of the Geneva II talks.
