Ukrainian PM vows that govt will do everything possible to provide medical aid to all injured
KYIV. Feb 19 (Interfax) - Acting Ukrainian President Serhiy Arbuzov vows that the Ukrainian government will do all it can to provide medical aid to all those injured in the ongoing riots in Kyiv.
In opening a government meeting on Wednesday, Arbuzov said several hundred people, including policemen, have been injured in Kyiv in the past 24 hours, and 25 people have reportedly been killed.
Arbuzov asked the people to take the government's restrictions on Kyiv-bound traffic with understanding.
"I am asking the people to treat the restrictions imposed on the traffic bound for Kyiv with understanding. It is aimed at preventing an escalation of the conflict," he said.
The acting prime minister also recommended that Kyiv-based organizations and educational institutions not punish employees and students who could not reach their work or studies because of transport problems.
He also recommended that women having underage children be freed from work for the time being.
Arbuzov called on all government ministers to assist members of the press as much as they can and visit TV studios themselves so as not to expose journalists to danger.
