Vimpelcom planning to stabilize share of revenue on market, break churn trend

MOSCOW. Feb 19 (Interfax) - OJSC Vimpelcom is planning to stabilize the share of its revenue on the market in order to create a platform for growth up to 2015, the company's CEO Mikhail Slobodin said during a presentation on the company's client relations strategy.

He said the company was also planning to break the negative trend in customer churn that was seen in 2013.

"We are expecting to stabilize [our] market share up to the end of 2014," Slobodin said, adding that Vimpelcom solidly holds third place.

The overall strategy for changing clients' perception of the operator and improving its position on the market are planned to be carried out over three years, he said.

Vimpelcom will concentrate on four main areas this year: raising connection quality; simplifying and optimizing its rate card towards package offers; improving client services at mono-brand stores, call centers, etc, and battling spam and malevolent services from content providers.

Slobodin said the new strategy did not include serious expenses for the company, adding that one of the results of implementing the strategy in 2014 would be the enhancement of the company's revenue base. "Our revenue base will be dramatically better, healthier and more effective," he said.

Another result that the company plans to achieve this year is "to stop the negative churn" of customers. "We expect the churn rate to show a dramatically different dynamic in 2014," Slobodin said.

He did not name the company's target churn rates. In 2013, the company's rate was around 15%, while that of the market's leader, OJSC Mobile TeleSystems , was around 9%.
