Moscow court jails three for killing, robbing gays
MOSCOW. Feb 19 (Interfax) - Three men, all in their mid-twenties, have been sentenced in Moscow to long prison terms for murdering gay men and robbing their homes, Russia's Office of the Prosecutor General said on Wednesday.
The convicts - Bakhmud Kaimarazov, 24, Magomedkhan Magomedkhanov, 24, and Magomed Magomedov, 26, - are natives of Dagestan, a republic in Russia's North Caucasus, the office said in a statement.
They met their victims through gay websites. Invited by the new acquaintances to their apartments, the Dagestanis came over, murdered their hosts and robbed their homes.
In March 2012, Kaimarazov, Magomedkhanov and Magomedov killed three men aged 27 to 38. One more victim survived as he was unconscious while his apartment was being robbed.
Kaimarazov, Magomedkhanov and Magomedov were charged with murder, and Magomedkhanov was also charged with fraud and large-scale theft.
The Moscow City Court sentenced Kaimarazov to 25, Magomedkhanov to 24, and Magomedov to nine years in jail. All three are to serve their sentences in high-security prisons.
