Latest EU mission in Kyiv was successful - Polish PM

BRUSSELS. Feb 21 (Interfax) - Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk believes the EU mission to Kyiv has reached its main goal, to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine.

"Our primary purpose was to put and end to the violence and bloodshed in Ukraine. This goal has now been reached, although an agreement is still a long way off," he told a press conference in Warsaw on Friday.

"The content of the possible agreement was determined in negotiations with President Viktor Yanukovych and the opposition leaders," Tusk said.

In the meantime, the EU has still not received official information from Kyiv on the return to the 2004 Constitution and early presidential elections.

At the same time, Maya Kocijancic, spokesperson for EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton, is in constant contact with the foreign ministers of Poland, Germany, and France, who negotiated with the Ukrainian leadership.
