Publisher stops circulation of Itogi weekly over financial problems - editor-in-chief

MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - Editor-in-chief of the Itogi political weekly Kirill Dybsky has confirmed that the magazine will no longer be published.

"Indeed, I was told today that the Itogi magazine will no longer be published. I made this information known to our journalists," Dybsky said.

The decision to stop publishing the magazine was made over financial difficulties by the shareholders of the Seven Days publishing house, he said.

No decision has so far been made on the future of journalists working for Itogi, he added.

"All journalists remain aboard. I was not told about dismissals. Although the publishing of the magazine officially stops tomorrow, all journalists will come to work," Dybsky said.

A source familiar with the situation told Interfax earlier that the staff of the magazine Itogi had been told that the March 10 edition of the magazine will not come out die to financial problems.

The magazine most likely will not resume its work after March 10, the source said.

The magazine Itogi is party of the holding Gazprom-Media. It has been published since May 1996. According to the holding's site, the magazine is disseminated in Russia, the CIS, Europe, and the United States. The magazine has a circulation of 77,400 copies.
