Party of Regions of Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk branch reports attacks on party members
DNIPROPETROVSK. Feb 26 (Interfax) - The Party of Regions of Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk regional branch reports that a number of party members and their families have suffered attacks in various parts of the region.
"Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council Yevhen Udod had to tender his [resignation] in the media's presence after three hours of unprecedented psychological and physical pressure," the regional branch said in a statement.
Volodymyr Chepurko, the chairman of the Party of Regions' Pyatykhatky district branch, was assaulted, it said.
"Only yesterday, I had to sign an application on my resignation as chairman of the Pyatykhatky district administration under pressure from radical thugs armed with bats. And today, at 2 o'clock in the morning, my house was assaulted. Several unidentified people threw Molotov cocktails into my yard and at the building. The attackers quickly fled. Nobody was injured," Chepurko said in a statement.
Law enforcement agencies started an investigation into an arson attempt.
