Moscow, Ankara can do much for PACE building united Europe - Naryshkin

ANKARA. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Russia and Turkey can do much to encourage the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to take genuine efforts towards building a united Europe, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin said.

"I would like to accentuate our interaction on the floor of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. We are doing a lot together and we can do even more so that PACE accomplishes its mission of the organization bound to build united Europe from Lisbon to Vladivostok, without dividing lines," Naryshkin said at a meeting with Turkish Grand National Assembly Speaker Cemil Cicek on Thursday.

The State Duma speaker said the Russian delegation viewed its Ankara visit as a possibility of further strengthening of multifaceted and profound cooperation between the two countries, which had become strategic in a number of areas.

He shared the opinion of the Turkish parliament speaker that the two states practically had no problems in their economic relations, the backbone of which was energy projects. Naryshkin mentioned the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant amongst others.

"Russian enterprises are due to invest approximately $20 billion in this project. And we hope this project will acquire strategic status," Naryshkin said.

The State Duma speaker arrived in Turkey after visiting Israel and Palestine.
