Navalny's supporters report registration of Progress Party

MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Opposition activist Alexei Navalny's supporters said the Justice Ministry has officially registered Progress Party led by Navalny.

"The party has been registered. We have received official documents," the party's lawyer Dmitry Krainev told Interfax.

"We now need to begin the registration of 42 regional divisions. It will make it possible for the party to run in elections," the lawyer said.

The party's supporters will begin this work in the nearest future, he said. 'We have six months for that. I can't say if we will complete this job by the Moscow City Duma elections and the unified voting day. It does not depend on us alone," Krainev said.

The Russian Justice Ministry earlier suspended the state registration of the party People's Alliance led by Navalny's supporters due to the similarity of its name with a political organization led by Alexei Bogdanov and the procedural violations at the congress and problems with documents. Navalny later decided to change the party's name to Progress Party.
