Putin: Ambassador's withdrawal from Washington would be extreme measure
NOVO-OGARYOVO. March 4 (Interfax) - Russia will recall its ambassador from the United States only in the worst case scenario.
"It would be an extreme measure. But it will be used if it becomes necessary," Putin told reporters in Novo-Ogaryovo.
"This is something that I strongly oppose" he said.
"Not only Russia is interested in international cooperation with its partners in the economic, political and security spheres. Our partners, too, are interested in cooperation with us," Putin said.
Reports said earlier that the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee drafted an appeal to President Vladimir Putin to recall the Russian ambassador from Washington. The move came after U.S. President Barack Obama said disrespectfully that military interference in Ukraine would involve "costs" for Russia.
