Number of Brazilian pork suppliers climbs to 6
MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - The number of pork suppliers from Brazil has increased to six.
Russian agriculture watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has decided to lift restrictions on supplies from BRF S.A., which were imposed on February 3 due to the discovery of mesophilic aerobic and facultative-anaerobic microorganisms.
The ban was lifted after the Brazilian veterinary service completed an investigation and was able to eliminate the problem.
Rosselkhoznadzor accepted a guarantee from the secretariat for the protection of plants and animals of the Brazilian Agriculture Ministry regarding the safety of the company's products and decided that it would allow pork supplies from the company to the Russian market, the watchdog said.
BRF S.A. is one of Brazil's largest pork producers.
