Naftogaz fully pays Gazprom for Jan 2014 gas supplies - Ukrainian govt source

KYIV. March 6 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian national energy provider Naftogaz of Ukraine has fully paid for the January 2014 gas supplies by Gazprom , a government source told Interfax.

It was reported earlier that Naftogaz had imported 2.47 billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas worth $663 million in January.

Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said on Wednesday that Ukraine had cleared part of its gas debt, notifying Gazprom at the same time that it was unable to pay on time for the February gas supplies, which would bring the total gas debt to $2 billion.

According to the Gazprom Eurobond prospectus, Naftogaz owes $1.45 billion to Gazprom for gas it bought in 2013 and $0.19 billion for 2014 supplies.

Naftogaz paid $1.3 billion to Gazprom for 2013 supplies and $0.47 billion for 2014 supplies in the period between January 25 and February 15.
