Evraz NMTP handles 38% more cargo in Jan-Feb
VLADIVOSTOK. March 6 (Interfax) - OJSC Evraz Nakhodka Trade Sea Port (Evraz NMTP), a unit of the Evraz Group that is the largest stevedoring company at the Nakhodka port in Russia's Far East, handled over 1.4 million tonnes of cargo in January-February 2014, 38% more than in the same period last year, the company said in a statement.
Cargo handling grew 30% year-on-year in February alone to 681,000 tonnes.
Cargo was dominated by coal and ferrous metals, as per usual. In January-February, 628,000 tonnes of ferrous metals were exported, as were 723,000 tonnes of coal, up from 417,000 tonnes in January-February 2013.
Evraz NMTP also handled non-ferrous metals, forest products, imported automobiles and other cargo.
The company had increased cargo handling 8.1% in 2013 to 7.45 million tonnes compared with 2012.
Evraz NCSP has 15 bulk berths and one auxiliary berth for the port's own fleet, with a total berth length of 3.5 kilometers. The port is able to unload up to 450 ships a day containing various cargo. The company's storage area covers more than 300,000 square meters.
Evraz NMTP is wholly owned by LLC Sibmetinvest, which is equally owned by Evraz's Nizhny Tagil Iron & Steel Plant and West Siberian Iron & Steel Plant.
