Some 4,000 people rally in Dagestan in support of Ukrainian people

MOSCOW. March 12 (Interfax) - A 4,000-strong rally in support of the people of Ukraine is taking place in Makhachkala on Wednesday, the regional police spokesperson told reporters.

"A mass event in support of the people of Ukraine is taking place in the park in Rodopsky Boulevard in Makhachkala. Its participants are various public organizations and local activists. A total of 4,000 people are taking part in the event," the republic's police said.

Local police officers were called in to protect public order. There were no public order violations during the event, the police said.
