Poll: 53% of Russians ready to support Putin in presidential elections
MOSCOW. March 12 (Interfax) - The number of Russians ready to vote for President Vladimir Putin in the next presidential elections grew 5% in the past week, the poll held by the Public Opinion Foundation showed.
When asked for which presidential candidate they would vote if the elections were held next Sunday, 53% of respondents named Putin, 9% leader of the Russian Liberal Democratic Party, 6% leader of the Russian Communist Party Gennady Zyuganov, 3% businessman Mikhail Prokhorov, and 1% leader of the Just Russia party Sergei Mironov.
Meanwhile, 11% of Russians failed to respond, 1% said they would ruin the ballot, and 14% respondent would not go to the elections, the survey showed.
The electoral rating of Putin during the same poll held on March 2 amounted to 48%, sociologists said.
According to the information of the Public Opinion Foundation, the popularity rating of current President Putin was 45-47% on average.
The representative survey of the Public Opinion Foundation was conducted on March 8-9 among 3,000 respondents in 204 cities, towns and villages in 64 Russian regions.
