Lavrov informs Japan security council secretary of Russia's views on Ukraine crisis

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - Moscow is prepared to engage in an open dialogue with its foreign partners concerning possible solutions to the Ukrainian situation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a meeting with Japanese National Security Council Secretary Shotaro Yachi in Moscow on Wednesday.

"During the meeting, the sides discussed day-to-day issues on the Russian-Japanese agenda, including cooperation in security. The sides emphasized the importance of further step-by-step development in the whole range of relations between Russia and Japan, as well as the importance of coordinating their efforts in order to maintain regional and global security," the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.

"The situation around Ukraine was discussed as well. Lavrov offered Russia's assessments of these events, noting that Russia is open to an honest, equal and objective dialogue with its foreign partners with the aim of settling the crisis in Ukraine," the ministry said.
