Kazakhstan's foreign trade surplus widens 44% in January

ALMATY. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's foreign trade surplus was $5.2 billion in January 2014 or an increase of 44.4% compared with the same month last year, the State Agency for Statistics said.

The country's foreign trade turnover increased in the reporting month by 13.5% year-on-year to $10.575 billion, including exports of $7.888 billion (up 24.1%) and imports of $2.687 billion (down 9.2%).

The value of export operations with the Customs Union states amounted to $414.5 million (a decrease of 18.1%), imports to $921.6 million (a decrease of 21.3%).

The main buyers of Kazakhstan-made products were Italy (24.9% of all exports), China (19.3%) and the Netherlands (9.7%).

The main exporters to Kazakhstan were Russia (32.9% of all Kazakhstan's imports in the reporting period), China (19.6%) and Germany (5.2%).
