Sergei Mironov intends to propose passing bill on rehabilitation of Crimean Tatars

MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - Leader of the Just Russia party Sergei Mironov said he intended to submit a bill on the rehabilitation of Crimean Tatars.

"After the referendum in Crimea is held and, possibly, the process of Crimea joining Russia will begin, I will submit as a legislative initiative the proposal on the rehabilitation of Crimean Tatars," Mironov told reporters on Friday.

It is necessary to legally secure under Crimean Tatars the property they currently own in Crimea and to hold a free cadastral assessment of the land for them, Mironov said.

This is related to the fact that upon returning from exile, Crimean Tatar often settled "all over," Mironov said.

Namely the issues mentioned concern Crimean Tatars ahead of the referendum to be held in Crimea on March 16, Mironov said. "They have been told scary stories and they doubt whether they will participate in the referendum," Mironov said.

The legislative initiative proposed will help lift some tension ahead of the referendum, the Just Russia leader said.
