Ekho Moskvy editor-in-chief Venedictov's tenure extended for another term

MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - The Ekho Moskvy board of directors has approved the candidacy of Alexei Venedictov as the radio station's editor-in-chief.

The decision was made at a meting by the radio station's directors on Friday.

In early March, the radio's journalistic staff approved Venedictov's candidacy by majority of votes for another five-year term.

In February, Ekho Moskvy shareholders elected former Voice of Russia deputy chairman Yekaterina Pavlova as the new general director of the radio station. She replaced Yury Fedutin who had been leading Ekho Moskvy for 22 years. The extraordinary session of shareholders, which proposed such a decision, was initiated by the majority shareholder, Gazprom Media. It was this shareholder who proposed Pavlova's candidacy for this job.

Last December Ekho Moskvy shareholders elected a new board of directors. It consisted of five members: three Gazprom Media representatives, including General Director Mikhail Lesin, independent director Vadim Semyonov, and the radio station's editor-in-chief Venedictov who was re-elected to the board.
