Referendum's security guaranteed - Crimean parliament speaker
SIMFEROPOL. March 16 (Interfax) - Crimea's law enforcement services are well prepared for the referendum, and this rules out provocations, the Crimean parliament's speaker, Vladimir Konstantinov, told Interfax.
"We have cut all channels and we have taken exhaustive measures to guarantee security. Security is being sufficiently maintained. We keep the situation under control and follow every stir," he said.
Commenting on reports about a drone neutralized two days ago, Konstantinov said that no decision has been made yet on it.
"We will make a decision later. We should not focus too strongly on where this drone will go. What matters most is to prevent provocations, although we have no information suggesting provocations are being planned," Konstantinov said.
On Ukraine's plans to cooperate with the Pentagon Konstantinov said the Ukrainian authorities should pay more attention to the social sphere.
"We cannot ban them from cooperating with the Pentagon. Let them go ahead, if they want. But it is not what they should be thinking about right now. They should think about wages, pensions, and also about tariffs which have gone up 50%. This is what they should be thinking about," he said.
