Malaysian authorities ask Kyrgyzstan to help with missing plane search
BISHKEK. March 17 (Interfax) - Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has asked Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev for assistance with the search for the missing Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777, the presidential press service told Interfax on Monday.
"A phone conversation between Almazbek Atambayev and Najib Razak took place on march 17 on Razak's initiative," the press service said.
The press service also said Razak had asked for information that could be used for determining the plane's route.
"One of the possible routes of the plane lies through Kyrgyz air space," Razak was quoted by the Kyrgyz press service as saying.
"President Almazbek Atambayev said the Kyrgyz authorities are ready to provide assistance to Malaysia," the press service said.
The president said the Civil Aviation Agency of the Kyrgyz Transport and Communications Ministry and the Defense Ministry's Air Force will provide all necessary information to their Malaysian colleagues.
"The people of Kyrgyzstan really feel for the relatives and loved ones of the crew and passengers of the missing Boeing 777 and hope that the airliner will soon be found," the press service said.
