GM-Avtovaz JV forms new board of directors

SAMARA. March 17 (Interfax) - The board of directors at the joint venture (JV) between GM and Avtovaz formed the JV's new board of directors at a meeting on Monday, GM-Avtovaz's press service said in a statement.

"Namely, there were changes to the JV's board membership on the part of General Motors following GM Russia's integration, and the JV's as a part of it, into the GM Europe organization," the statement reads.

New board members from General Motors include Andrew J. Dunstan, GM Russia and CIS President and Managing Director; Peter Thom, Vice-President of Manufacturing at GM Europe; and Gregory P. Hagy, Vice President of Corporate Development and Global Mergers and Acquisition at GM Europe.

Several General Motors representatives have left GM-Avtovaz's board of directors: James DeLuca, vice president for global production at GM International Operations in Shanghai, the division that previously managed GM Russia; James Bovenzi, the president and managing director of GM Russia and CIS, and Julian Blissett, vice president for new business and strategic alliances at GMIO.

Additionally, Avtovaz President Bo Inge Andersson was elected Chairman of GM-Avtovaz's Board of Directors.

"From Avtovaz, the current president of the company joined the board in place of Avtovaz's former president, Igor Komarov," the company said.

Remaining on the board are Executive Vice President for Finance and Corporate Development Oleg Lobanov and Executive Vice President for Production and Technical Development Yug Francois Gerard Demarchelier.

GM-Avtovaz has been producing the Chevrolet Niva since September 2002. In the future, it may produce new models of the Chevrolet Niva and the Lada 4x4.
