EU, U.S. partners behave like "fussy kindergarteners" - State Duma Deputy Speaker Zheleznyak
MOSCOW. March 18 (Interfax) - Our EU and U.S. partners to Russia behave like "fussy kindergarteners", State Duma Deputy Speaker of the United Russia Sergei Zheleznyak said.
"In general I am puzzled by the fact that our European and U.S. partners behave like fussy kindergarteners with their 'I want - I don't' attitude," Zheleznyak said.
Being included on the EU sanctions list was expected and has no impact to the stance regarding the events happening in Ukraine, Zheleznyak said.
"I would be surprised if I was not on these lists following my principled statements in Russia and Europe. Everything is developing under a scenario quite as expected," Zheleznyak told Interfax on March 17.
The EU sanctions "are of absolutely declarative PR character and their only sense is to make noise in the media," the politician said.
The declared sanctions do not change the stance of the responsible Russian politicians in any way - "they continue to honestly warn people about the risks threatening Europe and Ukraine due to the expansion and strengthening of neo-fascist and ultra-nationalist movements," Zheleznyak said. This is "a much more responsible civic stance than the attempts to curry favors with 'gate owner'," he said.
As to the unwillingness in Europe to see the individuals included in the EU list, Zheleznyak said he had never been and had no intention to be an unwanted guest. "If Europeans require the participation of Russian parliamentarians for developing different decisions, we have many professional colleagues," he said.
