U.S. decision to suspend Syrian diplomatic presence contradicts Russian-U.S. agreement on Syrian crisis - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. March 19 (Interfax) - The decision made by the U.S. to suspend the work of the Syrian Embassy in Washington violates the Russian-U.S. agreements on a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary released on Wednesday.

"The step taken by the U.S. cannot help but cause concern and disappointment. It essentially contradicts the agreement reached by Russia and the U.S. earlier to work together energetically on a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria based on the Geneva communique of June 30, 2012 through persistent work with the Syrian government and opposition," the document says.
