London's decision negates all achievements of Russian-British military cooperation - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. March 19 (Interfax-AVN) - The U.K. refusing military cooperation with Russia negates the all positive experiences accumulated in this sector, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said.

"The unilateral scale down of military cooperation negates everything positive that was accumulated with such difficulty in the recent years," Antonov told reporters on Wednesday when commenting on the decision of the U.K. to suspend military cooperation with Russia.

"Both parties have recently made considerable efforts to develop military contacts, which are of mutually beneficial character," Antonov said.

"In particular, the progress of British servicemen on ensuring security of the Olympics in London was generally useful to Russia," the deputy minister said.

A number of events, most of which were to be held in Russia, have been planned for 2014, Antonov said.
