Moscow thanks Nicaragua for backing Russia on Ukrainian crisis - ministry

MOSCOW. March 21 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, the Russian co-chairman the inter-governmental Russian-Nicaraguan commission for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, met on Friday with the Nicaraguan President's Special Envoy for Trade and Economic Cooperation with Russia L. Ortega, who is in Russia on a working visit.

"The meeting focused on the prospects for the Russian-Nicaraguan relations, a number of future joint steps for practical implementation of bilateral trade, economic, investment and other agreements," the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.

"Ryabkov expressed gratitude for the firm and consistent support by Nicaragua of the Russian position with respect to Crimea and Sevastopol, and the Russian approaches towards resolving the crisis in Ukraine," the ministry said.
