Chemical weapons to be gone in Syria by mid 2014 - Lavrov
THE HAGUE. March 24 (Interfax) - Moscow is satisfied with the progress of removing chemical weapons from Syria and expects them to be gone by mid 2014, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"I am glad that the operation is proceeding smoothly. We believe that the timeline will be observed and everything will be removed from Syria by mid 2014," Lavrov said at a meeting with Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Director General Ahmet Uzumcu in The Hague on Monday.
