Ukraine nationalists rob Russian passengers on Moscow-Chisinau train - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - Moscow is perplexed by the refusal of the Ukrainian law enforcement authorities to investigate the incident at the railroad station in Vinnytsia, where Ukrainian nationalists robbed Russian passengers on a Moscow-Chisinau train, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"To the horror of the passengers on Moscow-Chisinau train No. 65, which stopped at the railway station in the city of Vinnytsia on March 21, people wearing uniform of the Ukrainian rebel army entered passenger carriages and started 'checking documents.' At that, people showing Russian passports were forced to hand in money and gold jewelry they had. The robbery was accompanied by 'political explanatory work'," the Russian Foreign Ministry posted a statement on its website.
"The fact that then the victims tried to get their crimes reported to the authorities but were unsuccessful is perplexing. The police refused to accept their statements," the document said.
The incident occurred because of the revival of anarchy of the early 20th century, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"Such 'a law-governed state' is currently being formed in Ukraine," the statement said.
A report about theft of money from a passenger of the Moscow-Chisinau train came along the 102 line, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry press office told Interfax.
"Due to a report of theft to police, three law enforcement officers - employees of the criminal investigation office and investigation office - entered the train carriage at the Vinnytsia station, in which the affected woman was. This was done so that the woman did not leave the train and could get her the destination. En route - from the Vinnytsia station to the Zhmerynka station where the woman left the train - the law enforcement officers questioned her and composed necessary procedural documents," the press office said.
The woman did not notice the theft immediately, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said. "This is an ordinary theft, without use of violence, this is not a robbery," the ministry said. According to the information of the press office, the woman was travelling to attend a funeral.
A criminal case has been opened over the incident, the Interior Ministry said.
