Sberbank not planning to leave Ukrainian market - Gref

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - Sberbank of Russia has no plans to withdraw from the Ukrainian market, Sberbank President and CEO German Gref said at a press conference on Monday.

"We are not planning to leave. We have operations in Ukraine," he said, without providing more detail concerning the bank's plans in Ukraine.

Gref also declined to comment on the bank's plans concerning operations in Crimea.

"Right now there is a lot of uncertainty in the situation that has nothing to do with us," Gref said when asked about the bank's development plans in Ukraine. The situation in Ukraine "remains quite difficult," he said.

"We will look at how the legislative situation develops. If the legislative situation allows us to realize our potential, we will do that," Gref said.

The current situation in Ukraine "is having a negative effect on the economic situation worldwide. In Russia and in Europe. Everywhere."

"A drawn out crisis will take its toll on the Ukrainian economy, on the Russian economy. It will affect the entire European economy," he said.
