Gazprom eyeing LNG deliveries to Kuwait

MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and the extraordinary and plenipotentiary Kuwaiti ambassador to Russia, Abdulaziz al-Adwani, met for a working meeting at which they discussed mutual efforts in the field of oil and gas, Gazprom said in a statement, and LNG shipments to the Arab country were talked about.

"There was talk about expanding cooperation in the context of deliveries of liquefied natural gas to Kuwait by Gazprom and the implementation of joint projects," Gazprom said.

Kuwait's proven natural gas resources stand at 1.8 trillion cubic meters, its oil resources - 14 billion tonnes (6% of world resources). Gas extraction in the country amounted to 15.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) and consumption to 18.2 bcm. The disparity is covered mainly with imported LNG.

The Gazprom group has sent Kuwait two consignments of LNG since 2011.
