Naryshkin: costs from Western sanctions to be mutual

MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax) - State Duma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin has admitted risks from Western sanctions to the Russian economy but said other countries will also bear the consequences.

"The Ukraine factor and possible risks related to the sanctions imposed on Russia by our Western partners have a certain effect on the economy at present," Naryshkin said in opening remarks at a roundtable "Financial Sources of Russia's Economic Growth: What are the Reserves?" at the State Duma on Wednesday.

Most people understand that the costs will be mutual, the speaker emphasized.

"In fact, while trying to limit our economic maneuver to an extent, Western politicians bill their own businessmen and population, i.e. force them to pay for the failures of their own policy on Ukraine," the State Duma chairman opined.

In his words, the policy "largely contributed to the exacerbation of the acute economic crisis we are witnessing in Ukraine."
