Ethnic crime rate in Moscow grows four times in 15 years
MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax) - The ethnic crime rate in Moscow grew four times over the past 15 years, deputy head of the Moscow city police criminal investigation department Mikhail Gusakov told reporters on Wednesday.
"Analyzing ethnic crime statistics, I can say that the share of crimes perpetrated by persons from that category had been relative stable, around 9-10% of the total crime rate, since 1998 but it has been growing steadily since 1999," Gusakov said.
The absolute ethnic crime rate grew nearly four times in the period from 1998 through 2013, he noted.
"We suspect that the actual number is much higher," Gusakov stressed.
