Putin's electoral rating grows to 64% - poll

MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax) - As many as 64% of Russians are ready to support President Vladimir Putin in hypothetical presidential elections, the Public Opinion Foundation reported based on a representative sociological survey of 3,000 respondents it conducted in 204 populated areas in 64 regions of Russia on March 23.

Putin's electoral rating has grown by 4 percentage points in the past week, the poll shows.

Another 8% said they would vote for Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, 5% for Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov, 2% for businessman Mikhail Prokhorov, and 1% for leader of the party A Just Russia Sergei Mironov.

As many as 9% were undecided, 1% said they would deliberately make their voting ballot invalid, and 10% would not go to polling stations, the poll showed.

Putin's electoral rating had grown from 60% in a similar poll Public Opinion Foundation conducted on March 16, from 53% on March 9 and from 48% on March 2.

Putin's electoral rating has varied between 45% and 47% on average over the past year, according to Public Opinion Foundation.
