Senators approve amendments to law restricting issuance of licenses to buy weapons to people with outstanding convictions
MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax) - The Federation Council has banned citizens who have outstanding convictions from buying weapons. Senators submitted appropriate amendments to the current law On Weapons on Wednesday.
The law prohibits people who have convictions for grave crimes from buying weapons. The accompanying documents state that the law applies to "people who have outstanding convictions for grave and especially grave crimes involving the use of weapons."
The law also prohibits the issuance of licenses to buy weapons to people who have committed repeat offences in the sphere of public order and security in the course of one year, violated hunting regulations, or committed violations in the sphere of illegal turnover of drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogues.
The law was drawn up in line with the appropriate decree issued by the Constitutional Court.
