Russian MP Budarin attacked in Ulyanovsk
ULYANOVSK. March 27 (Interfax) - Russian State Duma member Gennady Budarin was admitted to a local hospital in serious condition after being attacked in the center of the city of Ulyanovsk on Wednesday evening, an Ulyanovsk region police spokesman told Interfax.
"His neighbors in the house on Robespierre Street, where the deputy resides, alerted the police about the attack on him. They said that unknown persons assaulted Budarin in the entrance hall and struck him several times with hammers. He was hospitalized in serious condition. His injuries are not life-threatening," the spokesman said.
Investigators are currently working at the scene of the incident, he added.
