FSKN: U.S. decision to suspend anti-drug cooperation with Russia plays into hands of Afghan drug cartels
MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax) - The U.S. decision to suspend cooperation with Russia in the deterrence of drug trafficking is regretful; it plays into hands of drug cartels, Federal Drug Control Service (FSKN) Director Viktor Ivanov told Interfax on Thursday.
"Who is going to benefit? Afghan drug cartels will," he said.
Russia-U.S. cooperation helped destroy "dozens of drug labs and tonnes of pure heroin routed to Russia, the European Union and the United States" in Afghanistan in recent years, Ivanov said.
