Moscow notifies Kyiv of intention to sever deal on Black Sea Fleet's presence

MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has reported that it forwarded a note to the Ukrainian embassy in Moscow to notify it about the intention to sever the Russian-Ukrainian agreements on the presence of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea.

"The Russian Foreign Ministry sent a note to the Ukrainian embassy in the Russian Federation on March 28, in which it informs it of the Russian Federation's intention to terminate the agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the parameters of the Black Sea Fleet's division, the agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on status and conditions of the Russian Black Sea Fleet's presence on Ukrainian territory, the agreement between the Russian government and the Ukrainian government on mutual settlements related to the Black Sea Fleet's division and the Russian Black Sea Fleet's presence on Ukrainian territory signed in Kyiv on May 28, 1997, and the agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on aspects of the Russian Black Sea Fleet's presence on Ukrainian territory signed in Kharkiv on April 21, 2010," the ministry said in a statement available on its website.

"At the same time, the note says that Russia is prepared to transfer the military property belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Crimea to Ukraine," it said.
