Russian senators hope OSCE mission in Ukraine will be impartial

MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - The Federation Council hopes that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe will give a public assessment to the radical and extremist actions in Ukraine.

The Russian delegation to the OSCE's Parliamentary Assembly also counts on constructive cooperation with its special monitoring mission, and on its effective assistance in settling "the deep political crisis in Ukraine," Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko told President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Ranko Krivokapic on Monday.

"We hope that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's conclusions will be based on the new political-legal reality and that the Parliamentary Assembly will give a public assessment to the radical and extremist forces' actions in Ukraine," Matviyenko said.

She said the special monitoring mission of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will hopefully be "unbiased, balanced and neutral."

Krivokapic in turn thanked Matviyenko for receiving him and said he hopes the problems would be solved.

An agreement was reached to continue Russian-Ukrainian dialogue, including within the framework of direct contacts between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
