Ukrainian CEC registers nationalist leader Yarosh as presidential candidate

KYIV. April 1 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Central Elections Commission (CEC) has registered Dmytro Yarosh, the leader of the nationalist organization Right Sector, as a presidential candidate.

The CEC made this decision at its session on Tuesday after Oshchadbank (the Savings Bank) had confirmed that Yarosh had paid a deposit of 2.5 million hryvni.

The media reported that, while Yarosh had been nominated as a presidential candidate at a Right Sector congress held behind closed doors, he is running as a self-nominated candidate.

The CEC has registered 21 out of the 24 potential presidential candidates who have submitted the full package of the necessary documents.

The presidential elections in Ukraine are scheduled for May 25.
