Total subsidiary wins three licenses to explore Bazhenov shale in Russia
KHANTY MANSIYSK. April 3 (Interfax) - LLC Total Razvedka Razrabotka Timano-Pechora, a subsidiary of France's Total, has acquired the exploration licenses to three Bazhenov shale blocks in the Khanty Mansi Autonomous District (KMAD), the press service of the region's governor reported, citing Governor Natalya Komarova.
The licenses were received for the Vostochno-Kovensky, Tashinsky and Lyaminsky-3 blocks, the geology and licensing division of the Ural Federal District subsurface resources department for KMAD told Interfax.
The Tashinsky block, located in the Khanty Mansiysk district, has C3, D1 and D2 category oil resources of respectively 6.096 million tonnes, 14.387 million tonnes and 0.904 million tonnes, materials on the regional government website show.
Lyaminsky-3, located in the Surgut district, has D1 and D2 oil resources of respectively 13.446 million tonnes and 1.011 million tonnes.
Vostochno-Kovensky, located in the Khanty Mansiysk district, has D1L, D1 and D2 oil resources of respectively 0.117 million tonnes, 13.416 million tonnes and 0.579 million tonnes.
Under regional government proposals for the conditions of the licenses, the license holder is supposed to begin 2D seismic surveys and carry out at least 500 linear km of seismic profiles at Vostochno-Kovensky, 750 km at Tashinsky and 450 km at Lyaminsky-3 within three years of license registration; and launch at least one exploration well at Vostochno-Kovensky, and at least two at Tashinsky and Lyaminsky-3 within four years.
Total Razvedka Razrabotka Timano-Pechora, founded in 2001, is focused on resource exploration, and geophysical and geochemical work.
