Georgia sees inflation of 0.9% in Q1
TBILISI. April 3 (Interfax) - Inflation in Georgia was 0.9% in January-March 2014, the National Statistics Service told Interfax.
Food prices, including nonalcoholic beverages, went up 1.4% in the first quarter, non-food prices 0.7% and services tariffs climbed 0.7%. Fuel prices (gasoline and diesel fuel) advanced 0.8%.
Consumer prices in Georgia went down 0.1% month-on-month in March. Food prices were down 0.6% on the previous month in March, non-food prices went up 0.1% and services up 0.1%. Fuel prices declined 0.1%.
In the year ending March 2014, Georgia saw inflation of 3.5%. Food prices were up 5.4%, non-food prices - 1.1% and services - 4.1%. Fuel prices fell 1.5%.
Georgia's National Bank has set target inflation at 6% in 2014, but the government is forecasting inflation within 3.5% this year.
Consumer prices grew 2.4% in 2013 following 1.4% decline in 2012.
