Armenia to join Customs Union on time despite premier's resignation - ruling party
YEREVAN. April 4 (Interfax) - The resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian has no effect on the Armenian accession to the Customs Union.
"Clearly, there is no connection because Armenia's decision to join the Customs Union is political and we expect Armenia to enter into the Customs Union in due time," press secretary of the ruling Republican Party, Parliament Vice-Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov told reporters.
Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian tendered his resignation at a session of the Republican Party's executive body on Thursday. His resignation was accepted.
Armenian Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian said in Moscow on Wednesday that Armenia would sign an agreement on its accession to the Customs Union in May.
