Luhansk prosecutors open mass disturbances case
KYIV. April 7 (Interfax) - Eight people were hurt in the storm of the Ukrainian Security Service's building in the Luhansk region, Channel Five said.
The television station reported that seven protesters sustained light injuries and a police officer was tentatively diagnosed with a spinal fracture.
The city prosecutor's office opened a criminal case on the counts of mass disturbances.
"Following today's events near the Ukrainian Security Service's building in the Luhansk region, a criminal case was opened under part 1, article 294 of the Criminal Code [mass disturbances]," press secretary of the Luhansk prosecutor Olga Dyachenko said.
Earlier reports said there were two victims: a 21-year-old serviceman of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry Forces with a neck injury and possibly a spinal facture and a female protester with a head injury.
Pro-Russian demonstrators stormed the building of the Luhansk regional department of the Ukrainian Security Service. They smashed out the front door but failed to get through the armored door and used second-floor windows. A Russian flag was installed on the entrance canopy.
A leader of the fighters told the audience it was agreed to release six activists but there was no official confirmation to his words.
