Russian, Belarusian observers to fly over Poland
MOSCOW. April 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Military observers from Russia and Belarus will perform an observation flight over Poland, head of the National Nuclear Threat Reduction Center Sergei Ryzhkov told Interfax-AVN.
The flight over Poland will be made aboard a Russian Antonov An-30B observation aircraft, Ryzhkov said.
The overflight will take place from the Warsaw open-skies airfield with a maximum range of 1,400 kilometers on April 7 - 11, he said.
"The observation flight aims to promote greater openness and transparency in the military activities of the (Open Skies) Treaty member states and to bolster security by boosting confidence-building measures," Ryzhkov said.
The Russian observation aircraft will perform the flight according to the itinerary agreed upon with the party being observed, and Polish specialists will be on board to monitor the use of the observation equipment and compliance with the Treaty, he said.
